Investment
  Analysis

Many start-up companies, particularly in biotechnology and microfluidics, have attracted a lot of capital with no return to show for those investments.  We have worked in basic research in an academic environment developing new methods and technologies, and have been involved in the transition of technology to start-up ventures.  Having backgrounds in both science and engineering, we have evaluated what technologies might make a successful transition to the market place, as well as identifying critical impediments within a technology that will prevent a successful transition.

What we can do for you:

Under a full confidentiality agreement, we evaluate both the science itself, and the engineering effort required for the development of a successful commercial product from the basic science.
We look at the science, the current state of the technology, the timeline for commercialization, and the people involve in the development process, to determine the likely success of a venture.

We may also suggest additional pathways, methods, or technologies that might enhance or speed up the development process based on our extensive technology background.

While biotechnology and microfluidics are our forte, the scientific process, and the development process is the same in the transition of any technology to a commercial enterprise, and we are willing to learn what is needed about the science and the competing technologies to evaluate any potential investment.

What we do not do:

We are not a market analysis firm.  Determination of the potential success of a start-up venture through analysis of the potential market available is beyond the scope of what we do.

We do not provide evaluation of the IP portfolio of a start-up firm.  While we can read through and comment on the strength of any IP protection, we do not comment on the freedom of any firm to operate within the IP landscape.
